Although it is still under construction and not scheduled to be completed until 2009, the Burj Dubai officially became the World’s tallest building on Saturday when it surpassed the height of Tower 101 in Taipei which had held the record since 2004.

The building when completed will house residential and commercial property and the state owned construction company Emaar Properties has not revealed what the final height will be, although it said it would stop somewhere above 2275 feet.
