Ducab reports 38% rise in sales in 2008

Power cable manufacturer Ducab has reported a 38% increase in sales to Dhs3.3bn in 2008. The company also reported an increase in the production of its power cables and wires from 65,000 metal tonnes in 2007 to 80,000 metal tonnes in 2008.

Dar Al Arkan rated ‘buy’ at Citigroup

Saudi Arabia’s largest developer by market value, Dar Al Arkan Real Estate Development, has been rated ‘buy’ in new coverage by Citigroup. The bank cited an under-supply of homes by 2012 in the kingdom as a key factor in its rating.

Travel spending in US plummets

Americans and foreign visitors have cut US travel spending to the lowest level since the terrorist attacks of 2001, despite huge discounts being offered on air fares, hotel rates, theme park admissions, new government and industry statistics show. The US Department of Commerce reported travel and tourism spending dropped in 2008, and plummeted at an annual rate of 22% in the last three months of this year.

Etisalat plans $1bn investment in Indian market

The Emirates Telecommunication Corporation, Etisalat, said it plans to invest $1bn in the Indian market. The announcement was made to Khaleej Times by Etisalat Chairman Mohammed Hasan Omran after the company’s annual general meeting.
