My country and Middle Eastern culture has evolved from a deep-rooted belief in Islam, which is a total way of life that governs every activity and decision that is made in daily life. Ethics and good manners are the ground we stand on. Hospitality, generosity and respect are essential virtues we almost been fed with along with our mothers’ milk. However, we are kind of conservative in regard to our dress code, behavior and interaction with others. Men are not expected to wear tight or above knee shorts while women can’t be wearing sleeveless shirts or short tight skirts. As for our national dress, UAE citizens are easily distinguished by our traditional outfit, Men wear the long white Dishdasha and headdress, while women wear the black Abaya. Shaking hands is also considered to be a friendly welcoming gesture but only via man to man or woman to woman hands, kisses are the same with special nose rubbing associated to UAE salutation heritage.
