Why Dubai ?
why not meltthe dubai way ?!
Last June I had a chance to visit the country of Dubai. I’ve been a multicultural expert working in San Francisco, California near Silicon Valley and I always thought the city was a wonderful conglomerate of people until I went to Dubai.
I heard in Dubai there are 190 nationalities living and working together in harmony.
If you work in Dubai you have to understand 190 different languages and customs and make them work together. Yes, I found out that their management style is very successful working with a multicultural workforce.
My F.U.N. Management™ program always emphasizes the benefit of working together with different nationalities to bring global success. I learned FUN is the main language when you work with a multicultural group. FUN is the centric language that brings everyone working together. It brings each person’s creativity and uniqueness to the table. The company or country brings the best creativity to their business. Of course it is very important when you are nurturing others and give back to society.
There are five things I saw in Dubai that fit my FUN Management theme.
-
They were open-minded. Yes indeed when I go to a new country I ask the taxi driver, “How is this country? Are you happy here?” They usually give a very honest answer. I asked the same question in Dubai and surprisingly all the taxi drivers I spoke to said yes they are very happy to live Dubai. Remember 100% of the taxi cab drivers are foreign-born.
-
They were optimistic. People believe in Dubai. The country and the people have a bright future. They believe a good time is coming. They felt they are doing well.
-
Their own creativity is important. Education and social status are important but creativity was the key to succeeding in this country. The government invites new ideas to build buildings, their own policies, and improve people’s lives. They are planning the future by bringing in tourists and not just relying on the oil industry.
-
The people are continually striving for personal development. They buy books by Tony Robbins. Steven Covey, Dale Carnegie, Jack Welch and many of the self-improvement and business experts.
-
They give back to society. They focus on improving the environment and nature and helping other countries financially.
Many countries are afraid to open up their countries to bring in more immigrants and they are afraid of losing jobs to foreign-born. Take a look at Dubai and their acceptance to foreign-born: It made their country become fun, unique and nurturing. Remember I said that every taxi driver I met said they were happy being there. FUN Management really works in Dubai. Try it you might like it.
Remember, You Are a Superhero!
